She may not care if you realize it or not, but Sandra Bullock has been quietly donated $1 million of her hard-earned money every time there is a large-scale natural disaster. For example, the Hollywood actor, who is estimated to be worth a whopping $200 million, donated $500,000 to the Red Cross while wildfires raged across the state of California back in November 2018.
Not only did she give generous to the Red Cross, but Bullock also handed out more money to those who can help the victims of natural disasters. According to PEOPLE, “In addition to her $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of Ventura County, California, Bullock added $400,000 to the American Red Cross, the organization recently announced.”
Because she loves to give away money to those in need, Bullock did release an official statement explaining the importance of being philanthropic to her. When people exhibit a great need, she wants to be the kind of person who is there to help them in any way she possibly can.
“The untold destruction from these fires is heartbreaking, especially following the tragedy at Borderline in Thousand Oaks. I’m glad to be able to help. We’re all family in this, whether it be human, furry, or feathered.”
Although Bullock may have made headlines last year when she gave generously to help the animals, as well as the human families, hurt in the wildfires, she has been philanthropic for a long time before that.
Over the years, the Bird Box star has often donated her cash, without even seeking any recognition.
Because she has earned more money than she is able to spend, Bullock happily gives it away to those in need to help do good things in the world. She had helped fund the creation of clinics as well as doing more down-home things like giving aid to a pool manager in Beverly Hills Motel when he faced economic hardship.
Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Bullock joined a group of other celebrities who pooled their wealth and raised money in a telethon to help the victims and their families.
That telethon “aired on more than 30 television networks, 8,000 radio stations, and on the Internet, (celebrities) brought in more than $150 million in pledges,” CNN reported. Bullock was among the group to help bring in so much money to help in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack. And she personally donated $1 million to the cause.
If you recall the earthquake that happened in the Indian Ocean in 2004, you’ll remember that it caused many tsunamis. It creates waves up to 100 feet tall and killed 227,898 people.
Bullock was available then too and gave her money to support the disaster relief efforts in the best way she knew how. She donated a $1 million to those relief efforts as well.
Throughout her career, Bullock does not only do a great job as an actor, but she also gives generously to those in need from the bottom of her heart.
What do you think about this Hollywood star’s generosity? Did you know she gave so much to those in need?
